Death Penalty
Death penalty has become a
trend in some countries,(India, Japan, Pakistan and Gambia) the countries with
most death penalties are China, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the US. Last year
Iraq broke out with an alarming rise in the use of death penalties. Iraq had
almost doubled the number of executions last year compared to 2011, up from 68
to at least 129. The other countries with extreme high counts of death
penalties are Iran with 134 executions in 2012, and Saudi Arabia with 79
executions. The US has 43 executions, the same amount as in 2011 but in fewer
states. In China the numbers where secret so no one is really sure what the
Death Penalty really is, but it is believed that that there are over thousands
of executions.
There has been an attempt to
try to get rid of the Death penalty in all regions of the world, but some
countries have starter executing people after a while. India executed a man for
the first time after 2004 on the only surviving gunman from the 2008 Mumbai
attack. The same thing have happened to Indonesia where a British woman,
Lindsay Sandiford, got executed for drug trafficking. There has only been two
known occasions of execution last year. It is said that Latvia has become the
97th country to abolish capital punishment for all crimes. Some of the methods
the countries used were: hanging, beheading, firing squad, and lethal
injection.
